Take the RESPECT Initiative Training

Transform your experiences into an inspirational presentation to help spread hope and alleviate stigma in Alabama!

The RESPECT Initiative works with participants to develop the skills necessary to articulate and share their personal stories of mental health and substance use recovery into a concise 10-minute presentation. The training is designed for anyone interested in transforming their experiences into an inspirational presentation to help spread hope and alleviate stigma in Alabama.

With these stories, participants learn how to educate and influence decision makers such as legislators and administrators, clinical personnel, direct care givers, students, peers, and more.

We are in the process of scheduling our next sessions of the RESPECT Initiative. Tentatively, we are planning to hold one training in February and one in March. Due to Covid-19 safety precautions, these sessions will be offered online.

If you are interested in participating or would like more details about the training, email Michael B. Autrey michael.autrey@mh.alabama.gov.
