How To Contribute

1. Record your own Empowerment Video.

You can record your own video. We can assist with editing the video and adding effects, such as a title and music. If someone else records your video for you, please be sure to include a short attribution at the end of your video. We can assist with adding this if needed. An example of an attribution is as follows:

“Video recorded by Jane Doe.”

Videos should be 3 to 5 minutes long and be focused on your wellness tools and successes. Empowerment videos are designed to inspire others to keep going with their own recovery.

Once you have recorded your video, please email the entire video, along with a short bio (3 to 5 sentences), to wingsacrossalgrant@gmail.com. We can also provide a link where you can simply upload your video if preferred.

We will review your video and discuss any edits that may be needed, as well as send you a release form allowing Wings to use your video in our video library. Once we have your approval on the final edits, your video will be added to the Peers Across Alabama Virtual Resource Hub.

2. Join the RESPECT Initiative.

Peers Across Alabama has partnered with the RESPECT Initiative.  If you’d like for our team to assist with creating a video telling your story, join a RESPECT Initiative course to develop and organize your story, then contact our team to turn your story into an empowering video to be shared in our Empowerment Video Series.  Contact Alex Cyr to register: alex@riamgm.org

Upcoming RESPECT Initiative dates:

April 15-15, 2024

May 13-17, 2024

3. Write Your Story.

If recording videos just isn’t your thing, but you’d like to share your story in video format, you may write up your story, and we can use our technology to create a video for you. Please practice reading your script and ensure that it can be shared in 3 to 5 minutes. You can submit your written story to peers@wingsacrossal.org. Remember to focus on your recovery and wellness tools so that others may be supported and inspired by your journey.

4. Create an Educational Video.

In addition to our Empowerment Video Series, which captures individual stories of success, we are also seeking Educational Videos to share in our Educational Video Library. Educational videos will highlight a wellness tool that you have mastered and wish to share with others. Some examples of Educational Videos are how-to videos of gardening-related activities, art-related activities, physical fitness activities, food-related activities, mindfulness techniques, etc.

Your Educational Video should be 3 to 5 minutes long and focus on an activity that can be reasonably completed by most anyone with tools or supplies that can be easily and affordably obtained.

Once you have recorded your video, please email the entire video, along with a short bio (3 to 5 sentences) peers@wingsacrossal.org. We can also send you a link where you may simply upload your video if preferred.

We will review your video and discuss any edits that may be needed, as well as send you a release form allowing Wings to use your video in our video library. Once we have your approval on the final edits, your video will be added to the Peers Across Alabama Virtual Resource Hub.

5. Share your favorite poem, song, or artwork.

Send us links to the inspirational songs on your playlist, poems that inspire your recovery, artwork that supports your journey, or any other media that other CPS might enjoy as much as you do. These items do not have to be created by you personally. The site will direct viewers to the original sites where the works can be viewed and appropriate credit given to the artists. This is an opportunity to share your wellness tools with the whole community.

Please send links to peers@wingsacrossal.org. Please also include your name, a short bio, and, if you like, 3 to 5 sentences about the ways the submission inspires you and why you are sharing it.

6. Share your activities and accomplishments.

If you are an artist or performer with their own website or social media site and would like to share it with the community, please email the link to peers@wingsacrossal.org. You are also invited to share links to organizations or projects with which you may be involved and would like to share. Please include your name, a short bio, and 3 to 5 sentences about your connection with the project you are sharing.

Wings Across Alabama supports a “nothing about us without us” model. This is your opportunity to join together with the community, share your favorite wellness tools, and share widely about your accomplishments and successes so that others who are facing mental health challenges across the State of Alabama may be supported by your story.
