In January 2024, Wings Across Alabama received a grant through the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs to expand mental health peer support to Veterans across the State of Alabama. Through this grant funding, Wings is delighted to announce our first ever online Veterans Specific Mental Health Peer Support Groups. These groups are led by Alabama Veterans who are also Mental Health Certified Peer Specialists.

The Veterans Support Group is facilitated by Ron Olmsted and meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. via Zoom. This group is open to all branches and all genders.

Ron resides in southern Alabama and is a 29 year veteran of the US Navy. He spent most of his career as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician with multiple combat and non-combat deployments.  He currently works at AltaPointe as a Veteran CPS on the Homeless Outreach Team and is raising his two amazing little boys.

The Female Veterans Support Group is facilitated by Christina Bullard and meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. via Zoom. This group is designated for female identifying veterans. All branches are welcome.

Christina resides in southern Alabama and is a US Navy Veteran. She has experience as a Certified Recovery Support Specialists and facilitating support groups. She enjoys helping others work through their experiences and cultivate new coping skills.

No registration is required. Our groups are confidential and we do not collect personal information from our participants.
